Our Story

Our child was not outgrowing his issues.

My wife broke down in tears regularly. Even with a Master’s in Counseling, she was at a loss with how to handle this child. She tried every behavior management technique imaginable. Nothing worked. His behavior prevented us from taking family outings. He was sent to the principal so often that we considered homeschooling. He was kicked out of the youth soccer league. His teacher said, “I don’t know what else we can do to help him out.”

Our child was an anxiety filled perfectionist. He was hyperactive, unpredictable, aggressive and irrational. His inability to follow directions and transition to new activities threatened his ability to learn, fit in or make friends. He had facial and vocal tics that increased with stress. He was prone to blow up or run off at the slightest comment or even look in his direction.

When he was in the 1st grade, the school performed a complete assessment, and our pediatrician referred us to a pediatric neurologist. Our other two children were well-behaved, model students, so we constantly wondered…..

Where did we go wrong?

The Search for a Solution

In February, 2008 our neurologist diagnosed him with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Tourette’s Syndrome (TS), and OCD. The school admitted him into Special Education (SPED) under Other Health Impairment (OHI) for ADHD and Tourettes in March of 2008, providing him with Behavior Support Services.

Our neurologist stated that he would not prescribe any medications for his ADHD or TS due to potential side effects. Doing nothing was not an option, so I immediately began to research alternative treatments and natural remedies. I spent hundreds of hours reviewing scientific studies and anecdotal stories of children with symptoms similar to ours. I found an interesting pattern of deficiency common in children like him. A number of studies showed success using either zinc, magnesium, or magnesium and vitamin B6 in children with ADHD and/or TS (See Research). After identifying an interesting fact about the behavior of magnesium and how it is impacted by and reacts to the presence of chemicals, toxins and free radicals in the body, I added the most powerful antioxidant, vitamin C, to the combination of magnesium, zinc and B6.

THE DAY THAT CHANGED OUR LIVES.

It was March of 2008. I still remember it like it was yesterday.

I can envision exactly where I was in the house, and the feeling of relief that this unpredictable child would actually swallow so many pills. I prayed for the best but honestly didn’t expect it. It was the day that he would take his first serving of magnesium, zinc, b-6 and c.

Incredibly, we saw some improvement fairly quickly. After a month and a half the school began to note the changes. On March 4th, 2010, he was officially dismissed from Special Education due to no longer having a need for their services. He is now an “exemplary student” who has many friends and is a happy, well-adjusted boy. Experts said that what we accomplished as parents was “nothing short of a miracle.” I wish we could take the credit, but we know the truth. When he skipped his vitamins for more than two days, the same issues would reappear.

Creating a better solution.

There were problems. The bitter taste and smell of these vitamins wore on our son. He would refuse to take them or even throw them up. I looked everywhere for a palatable solution. There was not a product on the market that contained this combination of vitamins and minerals in either a chewable or capsule form. This drove me to develop On Task.

Now our children and others can get these vital nutrients in a chewable tablet or a tasteless capsule. All of our children have been taking On Task for years with great success.

Success for kids, teens and adults!

Once, when I asked our son if he feels different when he takes his vitamins, he replied, “it’s like when I take my vitamins, I think about something before I do it. When I don’t take my vitamins, I don’t think about what will happen if I do something, I just do it. It’s like I feel it in my brain, not my body.” We sincerely hope other children can achieve this kind of insight and success.

Best wishes to you and your family,
